Notice on Sand Transportation System

In the larger interest of the general public and to ensure fair distribution of our limited natural resource - sand - to all our valued customers, the system for sand supply from Sha Region, Wangdue is hereby revised to be implemented with effect from June 1, 2017. In accordance with the revised system:

  1. NRDCL shall take full ownership of supply of sand including transportation.
  2. Sand shall be supplied to all customers only through trucks registered with NRDCL with effect from 1st June 2017.
  3. Customers shall apply for sand at the designated NRDCL Offices and deposit the cost of sand along with the transportation charges.
  4. The registered transporters shall deliver sand as per the delivery schedule provided by NRDCL.
  5. No customers shall be allowed to arrange their own transporters.

The customers and existing sand transporters are requested to take note of the following:

1. Deregistration of existing transporters:

 The existing transporters registered with NRDCL shall be automatically deregistered w.e.f. 31st May, 2017 (AN) and their security deposit shall be refunded within 15 June, 2017.

All customers who have availed sand approval must complete lifting the approved sand from the supply site within 31st May 2017. Effective from 1st June 2017, back log of sand approved till 31st May 2017, if any, shall be delivered through the new system.

2. New registration of transporters:

  1. New registration shall take place from May 23, 2017 to 26 May 2017.
  2. Interested applicants who fulfill the criteria and agree to the transportation terms and conditions set by NRDCL shall be registered.
  3. A maximum of 65 trucks (50 for NRDCL HO, Thimphu and 15 for Sha Regional Office, Wangdue) shall be registered on first come first serve basis. Registration shall be stopped immediately upon reaching the registration ceiling of 65 trucks, which could be before 26 May 2017.
  4. The registration will be done at the NRDCL Head Office, Thimphu.
